This SI article was about one of our local teams in Utah, which also happens to be one I am a fan of, so naturally it caught my eye. It is very interesting to think about how changes in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules will impact some schools over another. Will we see a big fish in a little pond versus little fish in a big pond scenario? The stars with national appeal would obviously have an advantage no matter where they go, but an athlete in a program in a smaller market could still do quite well locally, like for Fresno State. BYU is an interesting example of a program with a large following across the United States and even globally. The impact of NIL will be intriguing to watch in the coming years.

This was an interesting take on what a post-pandemic sports world is going to be like. Will fans return in the same way? The author speaks about how people are adapting to new habits, so will they really return to sports in the same way, if at all? Teams should regularly engage with their fans to stay top of mind, especially as there is a lack of games and competitions, so fans do not "go away" during this forced offseason.

The college sports world is getting rocked by COVID-19, but a different and massive disruption is waiting in the wings. This article from CBS Sports does a good job of breaking down the current Name, Image, and Likeness situation. What is coming is going to be big, and will lead to broad industry changes.

Thanks to last night's NFL Draft, we had substantial, real sports news to talk about. Hopefully when the dust settles, we won't be feeling like fantasy sports, where the draft is the highlight of the season. Shout out to the local Utah boy and surprise pick of the first round, Jordan Love.

I miss sports and look forward to the day when I will be able to cheer for my team, and against the teams that I don't like. Life has been challenging in different ways for people across the country, and my hope is that sports will help to bring people back together. We are trying to provide a way for fans to engage with their favorite team, together with other fans who share the same interest. Here's to good times to come!

Welcome to the Pivvt Clubhouse. We are working on building out a brand new software platform to help university athletic departments connect, engage, and crowdfund with fans across the internet. Keep connected to see forthcoming updates as we continue to build out this tool. I included the following photo by Patrick Ogilvie, from Unsplash.com, which I absolutely love and use in our app. Check out his work there.
